I'm Emma, the product stylist and photographer behind the camera at The Urban Wild.
The Urban Wild was created in 2017 to provide bespoke photography packages, services and a hub of photography resources for businesses of all sizes and stages.
I work with businesses wanting fun, lifestyle sessions or a fresh spin on attention grabbing, marketing material and product shots for polished branding material, new or updated websites and social media. I give you images you need to create awesome visual content and help convey your unique voice.
Before moving into photography full time in 2011, I had an eclectic career with formal training in beauty and photography but also having worked with children, in finance then blue and white collar recruitment. I also own an online children's boutique so I feel quite at home working with a toddlers excitement (or lack of!) equally to finding a way to navigate the crowds online and in person.
Through my online retail business I met more and more business owners who felt stuck in a rut with their product styling and photography and often without knowing how much imagery and branding impacts on sales. I started receiving product to photograph in my studio space at home and made the shift to specialising in branding photography. After months tweaking rates and pricing tiers I found a simple way to charge only for what you needed, keeping costs simple and relevant.
My clients are NZ product and service based businesses - online retailers, stores, trades and service providers, independent makers and big industry importers and corporates. I also shoot events and on-location portrait sessions in keeping with my lifestyle session with families too.
I'm happy getting lost in an adventure. I love experimenting. A touch of whimsy. Moody lighting. Shiny things. I love big open spaces and white walls. I love colour pops. Mixing the old with the new. Music. Amazing food. Great coffee and good hair days.
The Urban Wild is my creative styling and photography studio based at my home in Waiatarua, West Auckland. It's in the stunning Waitakere Ranges, a windy 10 minute drive from Titirangi Village - on the way to Piha - and its where my husband Ben and I spend our days (well, I do!) chasing after our two children, Scarlett Lilly and Emerson Fox. They're very fast. I work around the children and the rest of my time is spent growing my library of stock images and tending to my addiction of house plants. I'm also head chef, cleaner and supervisor of nap times, arts, crafts, baking and fairy hunting activities.
